Introduction to TBSMUN: When and Where
This year, The British School of Warsaw is hosting their second ever Model United Nations, TBSMUN. The Conference will be held on school premises, opening on the 7th of April and closing on the 9th of April. TBSMUN team is a group of dedicated students, who based on their interest in previous MUN conferences in Warsaw and Wrocław decided to continue this challenge.
Our Aim
The TBSMUN team hopes to create a unique environment which will focus on not only the local but also the international community within (and beyond) Warsaw, enabling delegates to embody international representatives of four different committees, letting them share their ideas and opinions to find creative and original solutions to the issues discussed.
The Topic
DR Congo is a controversial topic, as it is a country of great size and mineral wealth, however it has been plagued by civil wars and corruption ever since it gained independence in 1960. It has struggled through many changes of power, millions of citizens dead, and overall great losses. DR Congo is still struggling to recover from Africa’s “world war” in which millions died between 1998 and 2003. Its Eastern regions are still plagued by army and militia violence, and DR Congo hosts the United Nations’ largest peacekeeping mission.
The Conference
This even is not only a place for fruitful debating, but also a brilliant social experience, allowing delegates to meet international people from all over Poland. We strongly encourage the schools invited to partake in this learning experience – allowing us to create an environment where delegates can develop their skills.
