Honourable Guests and Distinguished Delegates,
It is my great pleasure to introduce the second official session of The British School Model United Nations. The Conference will commence on the 7th April and will close on the 9th April 2011. After last years successful conference being the first ever held at our school, I am looking forward to directing the second one, and that no doubt it will be even better! Our dedicated MUN team has been working hard to enable the duration this conference to be as smooth as possible.
This year, you as delegates will be able to fill the shoes of representatives of:
· Security Council;
· Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC);
· Human Rights Committee
· Disarmament and International Security Committee
This year, the main topic for discussion will be about the Democratic Republic of Congo. You, as delegates will spend three days in the shoes of UN delegates, representing each of the 10 non-permanent and 5 permanent countries of the Security Council. This is a great opportunity to discuss important topics, make new friends and most importantly, have fun!
We look forward to seeing you all at the Opening Ceremony!
Jennifer Pastakia,
Secretary General,
The British School Model United Nations 2011
